Albion boss Chris Hughton was pleased with the contribution of Craig Mackail-Smith after Albion’s excellent 2-0 win against Leeds.
Mackail-Smith was recalled for the game in preference to Leon Best.
Hughton explained: “With the way they play, they are a team that press very well, they have a lot of energy, a lot of youthful energy too.
“We felt the best opportunity we would have won be to stretch them and probably Craig, from the three strikers we have got, is that type.
“I thought he did well when he came on at the weekend and we got the right effect when he came on. I was delighted with his performance tonight.”
This was the first time Albion had won back-to-back home league games this season and also their first clean sheet at home since the 1-0 win against Wigan on November 4.
Hughton said: “Probably the only negative was that we could have made it more convincing. We got into some really areas, we broke very well but these are a good team in good form.”
