Albion have been in top ten form in the Championship under Chris Hughton.

A table compiled by The Argus since Hughton took charge 11 games ago reveals that Albion are tenth with as many points as Ipswich and just one fewer than three more of the promotion candidates, Derby, Bournemouth and this Saturday's Amex visitors Wolves.

Replicating the form over the course of the season would have been enough to put the Seagulls bang in contention for the play-offs again.

Instead the improvement has dragged Albion out of the trouble they were in when Hughton was appointed on New Year's Eve.

A win a Reading this evening, to build on three in a row at home, would go a very long way to guaranteeing Championship football again next season.

Albion would then be 12 points clear of the bottom three and up to 16th, their highest position since early September.
