Joao Teixeira will find out on Monday whether he will be fit for the start of next season.
The attacking midfielder on loan to Albion from Liverpool is seeing a specialist in London to assess the broken right leg he suffered in Tuesday’s 0-0 home draw against Huddersfield.
Albion boss Chris Hughton said: “Hopefully it’s as clean a fracture as it can be, less complications and that will mean a less period of time.
“The good thing Joao has in his favour is he is young and he is a strong lad. Right from the night of the incident the club have been in communication with Liverpool and it’s only right that Liverpool will make the decisions.”
It is unclear how Albion’s hopes of re-signing Teixeira will be affected by the injury. Hughton said: “It’s not something I have thought of. The only thing I've thought of is the lad.”
