Boss Mark Yates hailed an outstanding performance from Rhys Murphy which helped Crawley Town secure a record-equalling fourth successive home league win.

Murphy struck twice in the space of just 56 seconds in the first half to put Reds on course for a 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

Matty Taylor pulled one back from the penalty spot with three minutes to go after sustained pressure from the visitors but Yates felt Crawley deserved all three points.

He said: "We started brilliantly and thoroughly deserved to be leading at half-time. I thought Rhys was outstanding and took his goals really well.

"They came back at us in the second half as we knew they would but it is a 90 minute game and over 90 minutes I felt we deserved the win.

"The second half was not as good as we wanted it to be but we were 2-0 up and the other team had nothing to lose. They put a lot of balls in the box but the only chance I remember was when they hit the post.
