A marathon innings from Chris Nash helped Sussex maintain their unbeaten start to the County Championship season.

Nash batted for more than seven hours to frustrate Leicestershire and ensure their division two match at Hove ended in a draw.

The opener made 144 – his second century of the season – as Sussex reached 377-6 when the teams shook hands at 5.49pm with eight overs still to bowl.

Nash received good support from Ed Joyce before the Ireland international was caught behind for 69 before lunch having shared a partnership of 136.

Ross Taylor made the most of being dropped on 21 by Paul Horton at first slip to score his maiden Championship half century in a stand of 93 with Nash for the third wicket.

Taylor fell for 62 before tea to give Leicestershire a glimmer of hope and when Luke Wells (23), Nash and Ben Brown followed in the evening session they sniffed an unlikely success.

But Ollie Robinson (25no) and Ajmal Shahzad (6no) ensured there was no dramatic finale as Sussex made it three draws out of three.
