Aitor Karanka wants his Middlesbrough side to go for the win against Albion.

And he believes they are stronger for their heart-breaking experiences this time last year.

Boro missed out narrowly on automatic promotion 12 months ago and then lost to Norwich City in the play-off final.

The Teessiders need just a point at home to the Seagulls to secure a Premier League ticket – and could still go up as champions with a win.

Their manager is going for the victory against an Albion side who MUST win to go up.

He said today: I'm preparing everything to beat Brighton because I know this is more than just another three points.

“I think we're more mature now and have better players than last season. We have more experience, better players and are at home.

The Argus:

Middlesbrough were silenced by Norwich in last year's play-off final

“I said at the start of this season that the (play-off) final was good for us because everyone came back ready to fight again and now we are here.

“The players who lost the final last year have another year's experience and the players we've signed have experience themselves."

Middlesbrough have lost twice at home this season, to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.
