Albion will be playing Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship again next season, while Hull are heading back to the Premier League.
Wednesday, who overcame the Seagulls in the semi-finals of the play-offs, were beaten 1-0 by Hull in the final at Wembley today.
A spectacular 72nd minute strike by Mo Diame takes the Tigers back into the top flight for the third time in eight seasons.
Steve Bruce’s side, who finished nine points and two places above the Owls, were worthy winners.
Diame hit the post in the first half and Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood made several saves to keep his team in contention.
