LUKE WRIGHT is set to confirm his place in a star-studded NatWest T20 Blast opener at Hove – with a last run-out today.

The Sussex Sharks star will blow away the cobwebs in a second team T20 at Eastbourne as he recovers from a back operation.

IPL duo Chris Jordan and David Wiese both arrived at Hove yesterday ahead of tomorrow’s eagerly-awaited first home fixture, against Somerset (6.30pm).

Chris Gayle also jetted in from India ready to open the visitors’ innings.

Sussex coach Mark Davis believes Wright, who has not yet played this season, is raring to go before a near sell-out crowd at Hove.

Davis said: “We have two T20 games at Eastbourne (today) and Luke will play one of them.

“By all accounts he is looking good, he has batted this week and he will be ready to go (tomorrow).

“He hasn’t played competitive cricket for a while so he will be fielding, batting, running between the wickets and doing his thing.

“It will be a different test of his fitness but he feels good and he has got through a couple of fitness tests in the last week with a bit of batting and running.”

Sussex could wrap up a first Championship win of the season today, weather permitting.

They are four wickets away from an innings victory over a Derbyshire side who trail by 102.

The county are offering free admission to today’s play.
