Glenn Murray took only three minutes to find the net on his return to Albion colours today.

The striker re-signed on loan from Bournemouth for the season struck at the start of the second half in a 4-0 win for the Seagulls in their opening pre-season friendly at Crawley.

Murray, one of ten outfield changes at half-time, held off Crawley sub Josh Yorwerth to find the roof of the net from close range (48).

Several of Albion's star performers last season were prominent in the first half.

Dale Stephens, subject of two rejected transfer bids by Burnley, set up central midfield partner Beram Kayal for a smooth finish (19).

Kayal's fellow Israeli Tomer Hemed controlled and fired home a ball over the top of the Crawley defence by first half skipper Lewis Dunk to double the lead (33).

Murray's second half accomplice Elvis Manu made it 4-0 (85), the ball ricocheting in off off the Dutchman from keeper Yusuf Mersin's attempted clearance.

It was not entirely one-way traffic. Niki Maenpaa, the only member of the Albion squad to play for more than 45 minutes, made saves from Jordan Roberts, Jimmy Smith and James Collins.

Rotherham transfer target Jake Forster-Caskey and Irish midfielder Richie Towell were both absent.

Albion's next friendly is against Championship rivals Fulham at Aldershot FC on Tuesday (7.45pm).
