Inigo Calderon has sent a rallying message to Albion’s youngsters after their cruel FA Youth Cup exit.
The Seagulls’ under-18s went out on a penalty shoot out at Stoke City after a 2-2 draw.
Albion were 2-0 up at one stage but were taken to the extra half-hour by a spot kick deep in added time at the end of the 90 minutes.
Calderon, now playing for Anorthosis in Cyprus, followed events from his new home.
He tweeted to under-18s player Daniel Mandroiu: “Well done you and the boys! Chin up and the most important, keep learning and working hard!”
Mandroiu put Albion ahead from the spot but also saw his effort saved in the shoot out.
The Seagulls will now hope several members of Ian Buckman's side go on to shine in the under-23s and the senior team.
