Albion's new record signing Davy Propper says the time is right to quit Holland for the Premier League.

And he has revealed how a chat with a fellow former Dutch midfielder who played for the Seagulls helped make up his mind.

Propper, 25, played in the Champions League for PSV - but he still regards moving to Albion as a step-up.

He told The Argus: "First of all they play in the Premier League. It's amazing for me to play in the Premier League and also for the club after such a long time. I'm happy to be here.

"They have told me they have been watching me for a long time. I think now was the right time to talk with PSV and to talk with me. For me it was also the right time to go.

"It's the biggest competition in the world, so it was always an ambition for me."

The Argus: The Argus: Propper, bought from PSV for around £10 million, got the lowdown on Albion from Danny Holla (above) before signing.

He said: "Danny is a friend of a friend of mine in Holland. He was so happy to be part of this club. He told me about the facilities and the city and that everything is very good."

Propper is set to go straight into the side in Saturday's Premier League opener against Manchester City at the Amex.

"I'm ready," he said. "I'm fit. I've had the pre-season at PSV, I've played a lot of games, so I don't think it's a problem."
