CONNOR GOLDSON could be heading back to the Championship with Tomer Hemed as Albion brace themselves for a hectic flurry of ins and outs in the closing stages of the transfer window.

But it will only be on loan and only if the Seagulls land a defensive target in the final three days of trading.

The Argus understands there is strong interest from the Championship in centre-half Goldson, who is back playing after career-saving surgery on an enlarged aorta.

The 24-year-old is under contract until 2020 and manager Chris Hughton rates him highly.

Goldson and the club are keen for him to play games, with Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy currently dominant in his position and Uwe Huenemeier backing them up.

Albion remain intent on signing two strikers, a defender and third goalkeeper before the window shuts at 11pm on Thursday evening.

Capturing the front men would spark a permanent move for Israeli target man Hemed, who is wanted by a cluster of Championship clubs.

Albion are still in the mix to borrow Oumar Niasse from Everton, although financial considerations may persuade them to opt for a permanent alternative.

Landing two strikers could also prompt a temporary exit for Czech winger Jiri Skalak, who has dropped down the pecking order since the signings of Izzy Brown and record buy Jose Izquierdo.

The Seagulls are still hopeful as well of lining up a loan move for fringe Irish midfielder Richie Towell before the window closes.
