Albion winger Kazenga LuaLua was dropped by QPR boss Ian Holloway for the 0-0 draw at home to Burton Albion after turning up late to training yesterday.
LuaLua, whose father died recently, was omitted from the squad for the Championship stalemate at Loftus Road.
Holloway, speaking to West London Sport, said: "I had a player who didn't turn up on time yesterday. We might have needed him today, but I've got to teach him.
"If his head's not right after losing his father then I'll support him through that, but it's time to go back to work.
"You'd better go back to work, because that's what your dad would want. You'd better be on time son."
LuaLua rejoined Rangers on loan last month until January after spending the last four months of last season with them.
Out of contract next summer, he has scored 22 goals in 183 appearances for Albion since joining from tomorrow's visitors Newcastle, initially on loan, seven-and-a-half years ago.
