Albion boss Chris Hughton wants the goalscoring burden to be spread more evenly.

That includes making better use of central defenders Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy at set pieces.

Pascal Gross has scored or assisted in eight of Albion’s 13 Premier Leagus goals following the German’s third of the season in Monday’s 2-2 home draw with Stoke.

Glenn Murray is top scorer with four, Joe Izquierdo doubled his tally to two against the Potters to join Tomer Hemed, and Anthony Knockaert and Solly March have scored a goal apiece.

Hughton, delighted with the promiment part played by No.10 Gross, said: “He gets into the right places. What’s more important for us is the contribution he makes to the team.

“He has made a big contribution from the time he arrived. If we can get him into areas where he can play a part in goals scored, that’s going to be a bonus for us.

“We have to look to get our goals from somewhere. We’ve got two big, old style centre-halves and we need to get a bit more from our own set plays, just redress that balance a little bit.”

Former Brugge left-winger Izquierdo added to his goal at West Ham last month with his first at the Amex to earn a point against Stoke.

Hughton said: “He is improving with every week he has been with us. He admits himself he has come from a league not as physical or demanding but he has worked hard to improve every week.

“He is somebody that can certainly add goals for us.”
