ALBION want to add Bristol City talisman Aden Flint to their fight for Premier League survival as the transfer window enters its final week.

The Seagulls are also expected to come up with an improved bid for Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic after having a reported £8 million offer knocked back.

A well-placed source confirmed Albion’s interest in Flint as a report emerged yesterday afternoon of a £6 million offer for the 6ft 6in centre-back.

Flint is hugely popular at Ashton Gate and has helped City into the thick of the promotion race as well as the last four of the Carabao Cup.

His goal late in the second leg against Manchester City on Tuesday was his seventh of the season.

He is under contract until the end of the 2019-20 season and City would be loath to let him go as they chase promotion.

Albion’s bid for Mitrovic was being described as “paltry” in the North East, despite the fact he has not started a Premier League fixture this season.

Despite that initial rejection, the Seagulls last night remained interested in his services in their quest for a target man.

Newcastle are themselves looking to add firepower for the survival scrap.

They could break their transfer record to sign Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen after having their first bid turned down.

The Eredivisie club are understood to be holding out for £20 million.

Newcastle would look to recoup £15 million of that via the sale of Mitrovic, in whom West Brom are also interested.
