Chris Adams believes Sussex can carry the momentum from their superb Championship win over Lancashire into the Twenty20 finals.

Yesterday's 108-run win took the champions back to the top of the table but celebrations were kept to a minimum.

The squad took the opportunity of an unscheduled day off to practise at Edgbaston today ahead of tomorrow's semi-final with Kent Spitfires.

But Adams agreed that their success at Liverpool has left the squad in bouyant mood.

He said: "We could not have had a bigger boost going into the finals day.

"We made a promise to ourselves that we would only switch to one-day mode once the last two important Championship games were finished and that process started yesterday.

"We had done a lot of preparation already but we have been able to practise and we are desperate to go all the way.

"Things have gone well so far and we are looking forward to tasting the atmosphere and all what finals day is about. With a bit of luck and a lot of skill we could lift the trophy."

Sussex are boosted by the return of Matt Prior who will probably bat at No. 4 so as not to disturb a top three of Chris Nash, Murray Goodwin and Luke Wright which has played a huge part in their march to finals day. It will mean Adams dropping down to five.

The skipper believes his side built up momentum in Twenty20 by winning their last four games in a row, including a quarter-final success over Yorkshire.

He added: "We got momentum at the right time this year by winning games at the back end of the group stages whereas before we won early matches and then faltered. What has changed personnel-wise is that we used to pick lots of batsmen who strike the ball well and field brilliantly.

"Sometimes we would go in with four specialist bowlers and try to fiddle some overs with less experienced bowlers.

"But we seem to have a lot more options this time and having Matt Prior back is obviously a major boost."

Sussex beat their semi-final opponents at Canterbury to register their first win of the group stages but coach Mark Robinson will warn his players not to underestimate Kent, who will give a debut to their short-term overseas signing Lasith Malinga.

He added: "They are a high quality team with good batting and lots of all-rounders and we know that in Twenty20 it only takes one person to contribute and they can win a game."

Sussex (probable): Nash, Goodwin, Wright, Prior, Adams, Yardy, Rana Naved, Mushtaq Ahmed, Martin-Jenkins, Saqlain Mushtaq, Kirtley, Hopkinson.
