Dale Stephens has revealed he tried to join the Albion goal rush.
But he was happy enough to play creator instead as the Seagulls hit four for the first time this season.
Stephens drilled the ball across goal for Jurgen Locadia to complete the scoring from close range.
Glenn Murray, with two, and Anthony Knockaert had earlier struck in a 4-1 win over Swansea.

Stephens said: “It was a shot – just trying to get something on target.
“But I’m happy it found him and extended our lead and we won comfortably in the end.
“We knew before the game it would be a tough game and a big game for both sides.
“It was cagey early on but we managed to score before half-time and I thought we built on that really well.
“I thought we finished strong as well, which is impressive.”
