Solly March suffered deja vu at Old Trafford as Albion went out of the FA Cup.
Their 2-0 exit from the quarter-finals reminded the winger of the Premier League defeat by Manchester United in November, when the Seagulls lost 1-0.
March told The Argus: "It was a bit similar to the first game. We created a few half chances and just needed to put one away really.
"We fell asleep for maybe the two goals, other than that we were fairly solid.
"The first 20 minutes, half-an-hour, of the second half we were on top.
"They broke a few times, which is going to happen when you are pushing forward. It's a Cup game and you want to go through so we're disappointed.
"They didn't open us up. We defended well for the majority of the game. They never sliced us open, which is good. Against top teams they are going to put in good crosses and create good chances."
March, returning to the starting line-up in place of the suspended Anthony Knockaert, was replaced by Jose Izquierdo in the second half.
He said: "I was maybe a bit leggy at the end, but I want to start more games. Hopefully that 70 minutes sets me in good stead for the next few."
