The World Cup is still in full swing, but Solly March and Albion are already setting their sights on their second season in the Premier League.

The players reported back yesterday from their summer break after sealing safety with two games to spare with a famous victory against Manchester United at the Amex in May.

Chris Hughton's squad began two days of medical and physical tests at the Lancing complex before pre-season training proper starts on Monday.

Winger March had his eyes checked, veteran skipper Bruno (below) limbered up with stretching exercises and Austrian left-back Markus Suttner was on the treatment table.

The Argus: Albion have made three signings so far. Romanian striker Florin Andone, Nigeria's World Cup defender Leon Balogun and former Sunderland keeper Jason Steele have been added to the squad.

Andone will be competing with record signing Jurgen Locadia (below) and last season's leading marksman Glenn Murray for a starting spot.

The Argus: Hughton and the recruitment team led by Paul Winstanley are working on several more additions, including another centreal defender, central midfielder and goalkeeper, before the transfer window closes on August 9 and the Seagulls' launch their campaign at Watford 48 hours later.

The build-up commences with a training camp in Austria, the homeland of Suttner (below) from July 8 to 13 and opening friendly across the border in Switzerland against St Gallen on July 14 (2pm).

The Argus: The first friendly back in England is at AFC Wimbledon on July 21 (3pm). Albion go to Charlton three days later (7.45pm), Hughton returns to his old club Birmingham on July 28 (3pm) and the warm-up programme concludes with a showpiece friendly against Portugese giants Sporting Lisbon at the Amex on August 3 (7.45pm).

There could also be another friendly abroad between the Birmingham and Sporting Lisbon fixtures.

Balogun and fellow World Cup participants Mathew Ryan (Australia) and Jose Izquierdo (Colombia) will join in pre-season further down the line.

End-of-season internationals like Davy Propper (Netherlands) and Beram Kayal and Tomer Hemed (Israel) have also been granted extra-time off, while Republic of Ireland central defender Shane Duffy is recovering from groin surgery.
