Simon Rusk tonight praised Albion midfielder Max Sanders after he shone for his country.
Sanders started for England under-19s as they beat Turkey 3-2 in the European Championship finals in Finland.
Development squad boss Rusk said: “It’s outstanding for Max.
“I think it’s nice for the academy and everyone at the club when you see one of your players pulling on an England shirt.
“He has worked ever so hard and he totally deserves his place.”
Sanders’ Albion team-mates watched his performance together on television at their training complex before travelling to their friendly at Bognor.
The young Seagulls were beaten 2-1 by a lively Rocks side after going ahead through Jordan Maguire-Drew’s brilliant free-kick.
Doug Tuck and Jack Parkinson netted for the Ryman League outfit in the second period.
