TONY Bloom has revealed his goal for Albion in the Premier League this season.

The owner-chairman stresses that 17th is the first aim - but believes it is possible for any club outside the Big Six to do a Burnley.

Sean Dyche's side surprised everybody last season by finishing seventh to qualify for Europe.

Bloom said: "Hats off to Burnley, they had a magnificent season last season. They may find it tougher this season with the Europa League, that's a really tough step.

"But they finished the 'best of the rest'. They won their league, the league of 14. It's possible for any of us to do that.

"What Leicester did before that (champions) was a miracle - but what Burnley did was not a miracle. It was a lot of hard work from a well organised side with lots of 1-0 wins. And good luck to them.

"But our feet are very much on the ground. It's a tougher league now. We've got Wolves and Fulham coming up who were two excellent sides last season in the Championship and now both spending a lot of money.

"Three teams go down each season so we can't think too far. The first aim is 17th and after that anything is a bonus.

"I think we can do better than last season's 15th but the key is staying in this league - because it's not easy to get back, even with parachute payments."

Boss Chris Hughton told The Argus: "I have to say 17th, because I'm the manager and anything below 17th is not good. On the other hand that's not what we are aiming for. We want to finish better and have the best season we can.

"But the most important thing by a mile is that we are in the Premier League again next year."

Albion begin their second campaign in the top flight today at Watford, widely tipped as candidates for relegation.

Hughton disagrees. He said: "I don't think many people would have had Stoke going down last season and maybe also West Brom, so anybody making predictions on who will be going down it's so incredibly difficult to assess.

"On the way last season went it could be any one of 13 teams. I think Watford are a good side and I think they'll have a decent season."
