Dean Cox today urged fans to "come and support us" as Albion brace themselves for another low turnout at Withdean.

The Seagulls play the second of three matches against Cheltenham in the space of ten days in the southern section quarter-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tomorrow night.

The last home match against Walsall seven days ago produced the worst league crowd ever at Withdean of just 4,714.

Left winger Cox said: "It's a bit bizarre really. We are sitting sixth in the League, creating chances and scoring goals and winning games and they still don't come.

"We are thankful to the loyal fans who do turn up. It is much appreciated. My message is come and support us because we are playing some good football, we are entertaining and winning games."

The lowest attendance for a competitive fixture at Withdean came in October last year, when just 1,740 watched Albion beat Boston 2-0 in the first round of the JP Trophy.

Unlike last week, there is no Champions League TV coverage to dissuade supporters and Dean Wilkins' side are on a run of just one defeat in ten matches following Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup draw at Whaddon Road.

Prices have also been slashed to between £10 and £12 for adults with free admission for under- 16s accompanying a grown-up.

Guy Butters is expected to make his first start since October 6 in the centre of defence in place of Tommy Elphick (groin) and on-loan Ipswich midfielder George O'Callaghan is also back in contention after recovering from sickness.

Elphick missed training yesterday and will not be risked. He is needed for the return to League One action at Leyton Orient on Saturday when Andrew Whing is suspended.

Next Tuesday's replay has scuppered plans to look at Danish goalkeeper Jonas Jensen and Portugese leftback Carlos Sousa Da Mota in a friendly at Dorchester.
