Graham Potter would love to put on a show for Albion’s first pay-per-view audience.

But a win is the key as his side face West Brom at the Amex tomorrow (5.30pm, Sky PPV).

Potter has distanced himself from the debate over the merits or otherwise of PPV coverage.

But he can understand a wider argument that lower-profile clubs need to show they are than making up the numbers for the big six.

Fans who opt to watch the match live on TV - and many won’t – must pay an extra £14.95 for access.

That cost has caused considerable controversy since it was announced a little more than two weeks ago.

Potter was asked whether the potential extra expense for fans put more pressure on his side to perform.

Albion’s head coach replied: “There is always pressure to perform, regardless of the external decisions, whether it’s pay-per-view or not.

“We are aware, whatever the situation is, that our supporters are watching. We want to play well for them.

“And we want to do well for ourselves, but we also want points - there’s always pressure on us to win.

“I understand the bigger argument but the strength of the Premier League is about how even it is in terms of distribution and how everyone is fighting and the league is competitive.”

Potter was asked whether bigger clubs would be looking closely at what matches such as tomorrow’s at the Amex offer the Premier League.

He said: “Yes and then it’s probably more of a philosophical question - are the rich getting richer in a better way? Is that how we want to go?

“It’s a question for football because there are a lot of rich people out there in society who are not particularly happy.

“It depends on how you see football - and the world in general.”
