Crawley have turned down a £15,000 bid from Forest Green Rovers for captain Tyrone Thompson.
Thompson, 26, has been an ever-present in Crawley's midfield since joining from Halifax in the summer.
Boss Steve Evans said: "It did not meet my valuation of the player. I went to the directors to ask their opinion and they told me to go ahead and reject it.
"I have spoken to Tyrone and he said he is loving it here and wants to be part of what we are doing.
"We are delighted because we don't want to lose our best players. Tyrone has been brilliant for us and it is not surprising he has attracted interest.
"Whether Forest Green will come back to us with a better offer, I don't know. We don't want to lose our best players but we also have to accept that every player has his price."
