DEAN Hammond is in talks with Colchester over a move to the club at the bottom of the Championship.

Colchester have made another offer for Albion's unsettled skipper after having a £200,000 bid turned down at the start of the January transfer window.

Hammond has been put up for sale by the Seagulls because he has refused to sign a new contract and will be entitled to a free transfer at the end of the season when his current deal expires.

Albion are still trying to land Chesterfield captain and midfielder Peter Leven before the window shuts at midnight on Thursday after the Spireites rejected their £50,000 bid for the Scot.

Meanwhile, Nathan Elder is the latest striker on his way out of Albion.

Brentford and Wycombe have tabled offers of around £25,000 for the former Billericay marksman and he is likely to join one of the League Two clubs on Thursday.
