New boy Jonny Dixon put pen to paper for Albion and told fans: "I'm here to score goals."

The 24-year old hitman with the multi-national background has left Aldershot's quest for a return to the Football League and signed for the Seagulls for £55,000 on a two-and-half year contract.

Dixon, born in Murcia, Spain, of a Chinese-Malaysian mother and English father, joins Albion for training today and is available for Saturday's key League One clash at home to Crewe.

He arrives with a proven record at the lower level, having scored 32 Blue Square premier goals in 66 starts plus seven appearances as sub for the Shots.

The 5ft 9in frontrunner said: "I think as a centre forward a good target is one goal every two games. I'll be looking to produce that here.

"I'm here to score goals. That's what I do. As soon as I get my chances hopefully I will be banging them in."

Dixon is likely to start behind Nicky Forster and fellow new boy Glenn Murray in the pecking order. He said: "Competition is a good thing for everyone. It pushes you to excel. Obviously I want to be playing but I'm not taking anything for granted coming here."

Dixon had a loan spell at Crawley and has heard plenty about Brighton from other players.

He said: "It's a footballing town. There's big support. Players who have been here say the supporters are great.

"There are a few nerves before the first day training. It's like the first day at school. But everyone has to change teams at some time. Hopefully we will all get along together."
