Glenn Murray wants to continue his scoring spree after two goals on his full debut for Albion. The Seagulls' £300,00 striker from Rochdale celebrated his first appearance at Withdean by scoring twice in the first half.

Murray, 24, said "I think that is eight in eight starting games. I just wanted to keep that run going from Rochdale and I have. Long may that continue.

"I am delighted to get two goals on my debut. It does not get much better than that."

Boss Dean Wilkins was particularly impressed with Murray's second goal just before the break, a right foot volley after his partner Nicky Forster headed a cross into his path.

Wilkins said "He had a long time to actually watch the ball arrive on his foot but he did not try and hit it early or snatch at it.

"He just stayed calm throughout. It was a quality finish."

Wilkins was also encouraged by Murray's instant understanding with Forster. "We know he has got some quality and it looks like it could be a good partnership with Fozzy." he said.

"I know they are both excited about it. It worked really well, especially when the ball was in the air.

"Glenn has got the ability to jump and get above the defender very early and almost hang there, and Fozzy picked up a lot of flick-ons.

"Also, on the floor, they were looking to combine as well which we have already seen in training, so it looks promising."

Murray's brace came either side of a rare goal for veteran centre half Guy Butters on his return from a calf injury as Albion won for only the second time in nine games.

Wilkins said "It was just what we needed after what at times was a difficult week with the ins and outs and injuries as well. There was a lot of head scratching going on leading up to the game."

Albion under-18s lost 2-0 at home to Northampton in the Youth Alliance South East Conference.
