Dean Bowditch has vowed to make up for lost time in his second loan spell with Albion.

The Seagulls have re-signed the Ipswich striker for a month and he is expected to go straight into the team against Tranmere at Withdean tonight.

A persistent groin problem restricted Bowditch, 21, to four appearances and a winning goal at Bradford in a two-month stint with Albion last season.

He said: "It's good to be back. After what happened last time, which wasn't the best, I needed to do more for the club and myself.

"They have really kept in contact over the year and said they wanted me back as soon as I got fit.

"That has been really good and I really like the club as well and the management. I really want to be involved again with the team."

Bowditch eventually needed double hernia surgery but he is raring to go after proving his fitness with two goals in ten games on loan to Northampton between November and January.

He said: "That is all behind me now. It was a solid nine months of up and downs, setbacks and frustrations. It wasn't the best of times for me, if not the worst nine months of my life.

"It was just horrible and when you are out of the game for that long you suddenly realise how precious it is to you."

Bowditch, likely to start on the left wing, will join forces with Ipswich team-mates past and present tonight in Nicky Forster and Matt Richards.

He said: "There have been a few changes since I was last here but some good changes as far as I know.

"One of my close mates, Alex Revell, has gone and Dean Hammond has gone to hopefully bigger and better things for them.

"The ones I know most closely are Fozzy and Matt. I've played with Fozzy quite a few times, so we will have a good understanding.

"I know he is going through a bit of a spell at the moment but he is a goalscorer and he will come out of it."

One of Bowditch's four appearances for Albion last season came in the 1-0 home defeat by Tranmere.

He said: "I came on in that one. It was an undeserved defeat and hopefully we can get back at them this time."

Boss Dean Wilkins said: "We didn't see enough of him when he was with us last time but we still saw some quality, like his winner at Bradford.

"He's had a few games in our League this year already, he is feeling as fit as he has felt for a long time and we are hoping to get a huge benefit from him."

Wilkins is hoping to supplement the return of Bowditch with another loan signing from a Premier League club.
