Crawley Town have announced the departure of Kwesi Appiah.

The striker has left the League Two club after agreeing to the mutual termination of his contract.

London-born Appiah joined the Red Devils in August 2021 and enjoyed instant success at Broadfield Stadium, finishing as their top league goalscorer and netting 12 times in 29 appearances in all competitions that season.

The 32-year-old Ghana international spent most of last season on loan at league rivals Colchester United.

The former Crystal Palace and AFC Wimbledon forward scored three times for the Essex club in 14 appearances during an injury-hit campaign.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Kwesi for his service during his time at the Broadfield Stadium and wishes him the very best for the future," said a club statement.

And Appiah's exit followed hot on the heels of midfielder Jack Powell's departure from Crawley to join Crewe Alexandra on a two-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months.

Powell joined Crawley on a two-year deal from Maidstone United in June 2019 - having represented England C on three occasions - and after making his debut in the EFL Trophy against Portsmouth went out on loan to Aldershot Town.

The former West Ham United youth-team player became a key member of Crawley's midfield on his return, becoming a regular for the next three seasons and making over 150 appearances for the club.

London-born Powell, 29, missed just one league match last season and took the player of the season award.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Jack for his service during his four years at the Broadfield Stadium and wishes him the very best for the future," said a club statement.

*Eastbourne Borough have announced the signing of Scott Leslie.

The 19-year-old joins from National League South rivals St Albans City, having impressed during training and in friendlies towards the end of last season.

And he will look to continue his development at Priory Lane as the club moves to full-time football for the first time.

Fletcher Holman will also be part of Mark Beard's squad having stepped up from the youth ranks.

Holman graduated from the U18s last season and also impressed for Eastbourne Town, winning the Young Player of the Year award.

Crawley start their pre-season at East Grinstead Town on July 11, then visit Three Bridges on July 15 and Dover on July 18.

Crystal Palace will visit Broadfield Stadium on July 19, before Scott Lindsey's side go to Heybridge Swifts (July 25) and Bromley (July 29).
