French football superstar Kylian Mbappe could be set for a move to Crawley Town, according to a bizarre transfer rumour.

German-based football website Transfermarket put the chance of the last year’s World Cup Golden Boot winner moving to the League Two side as high as 48 per cent.

The obscure suggestion would have pitted the Sussex team against Saudi club Al-Hilal, whose chances were rated at 50 per cent.

Al-Hilal offered Paris-Saint-Germain a record-breaking €300 million for the 24-year-old, but Mbappe reportedly refused the offer.

Crawley Town took to social media to respond to the bizarre suggestion.

Alongside a photo of striker Danilo Orsi, the club dismissed the prospect of a Mbappe transfer and said: “Not needed. Sorry, Kylian.”

Crawley Town is currently in third place in League Two, behind Gillingham and Barrow.

Should the side remain in the top three, Crawley Town would be promoted to League One, joining teams including Portsmouth, Reading, Stevenage and Shrewsbury Town.
