Former Crawley midfielder Ernie Cooksey has died aged 28 after losing his battle with cancer.
Cooksey was a fans' favourite at Broadfield Stadium during a successful season with the club five years ago.
He helped Crawley win the Dr Martens Cup and Sussex Senior Cup before securing a move to Oldham to launch a League career.
Cooksey had spells at Rochdale and Boston United, where he played under current Reds boss Steve Evans.
He was diagnosed with cancer in February while playing for Crawley's Blue Square premier rivals Grays.
