Sussex have announced India’s Cheteshwar Pujara and Australian Daniel Hughes as overseas signings for the 2024 season.

Pujara will return to The 1st Central County Ground for a third-straight season and will be available for the first seven County Championship games.

Hughes will be available from the start of the T20 Vitality Blast until the end of the season and will also play in the County Championship, although head coach Paul Farbrace has opted not to use overseas players in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The two batters will complement the two overseas bowlers, Jayden Seales and Nathan McAndrew, who have also signed for the 2024 campaign.

Pujara, who has scored 1,863 runs for Sussex at an average of 64.24 in 18 County Championship appearances, said: “I have enjoyed my time at Hove the last couple of seasons and couldn’t be more delighted to be back again with the Sussex family.

“I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing to its success.”

Hughes, who was part of the Sydney Sixers team that won consecutive Big Bash League titles in 2020 and 2021, said: “Playing county cricket has been a long-held ambition for me. I am delighted to get that opportunity at Sussex.”
