Adam Hinshelwood hopes excitement is mounting around the town for Worthing’s promotion push.

They recovered from another early deficit to win 4-2 at home to Torquay before a crowd of 2,267 at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.

It was their record home attendance in Vanarama National League south.

Danny Cashman scored twice, there was a goal for new boy Dylan Fage and Ollie Pearce extended his impressive run.

Winger Fage has signed from St Albans while Joan Luque has gone to Totton for a month on loan.

Rebels boss Hinshelwood said: “We want the whole town to get behind us and I hope they enjoyed coming to the game.

“If we can get a few of them back for our next home game, it will be really important to us.

It makes a big difference We have got about eight home games left and, if we can try and get near that attendance for our last eight games, it will be massive for us.

“Hopefully they enjoyed some of the football that was on display.

“I certainly enjoyed watching the lads and some of their football was superb.

“It is important now we harness the momentum and hopefully the whole town really gets behind us for the remaining fixtures.”

Siya Ligendza converted a penalty to give Eastbourne Borough a precious 2-1 win at home to Farnborough.

Archie Procter’s first senior goal was cancelled out in the opening ten minutes.

Borough are now four points from safety while survival rivals Welling have sacked Danny Bloor, despite a win at Hemel Hempstead.

Borough boss Adam Murray said: “We have brought players in but you have got to change the whole mindset “It’s a really big challenge.

“This is a small step today but the boys have been really good in terms of application and openness to learn and take on new ideas.”
