Albion will go into this summer in a strong financial position – as some rival clubs come under increasing self-inflicted pressure.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes the Seagulls have worked themselves into a great starting place for close-season business.

They are expected to announce increased profits shortly while fellow Prem outfits come into sharp focus for their financial headaches.

Maguire told The Argus: “Brighton are in a strong position financially.

“This means that they are under no pressure to sell in the summer, which means they can extract full value from sales.

“At the same time they have cash in the bank which puts them in a strong position when buying.”

Nottingham Forest were this week docked four points for breaching Premier League financial rules.

That followed a six-point penalty for Everton.

Maguire’s fellow football finance expert Stefan Borson this week told TalkSPORT he expects Chelsea to face profitability and sustainability charges next season unless they can raise substantial funds via player sales by June 30.

Borson said: “I think the scale of the losses they are currently forecasting appears to me to be vastly in excess of both Everton and Nottingham Forest.”

Albion’s summer business will kick off with the arrival of Ghana winger Ibraham Osman from Nordsjaelland for about £16 million.
