Aro Muric’s blunder which gifted Albion a point at Burnley has been described as his worst nightmare.

The Clarets goalkeeper let a simple pass under his foot as the Seagulls salvaged a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

Stand-in Burnley boss Craig Bellamy attempted to defend Muric.

But Match Of The Day pundit Martin Keown said the blunder was unfathomable.

Keown told BBC viewers: “He is competent in possession. But for some reason – and this is as true a back pass as you will see – he tries to put his foot on the ball.

“There s no bobble, no bounce and it has gone straight through.

“It’s inconceivable for a professional goalkeeper to do that. It’s your worst nightmare.”

MOTD presenter Gary Lineker said: “I feel for him.”

Bellamy, taking charge of the Burnley as Vincent Kompany served a touchline ban, said: “It’s not his mistake, it’s our mistake. Do we call it a mistake? I don’t know. It’s how we play. It ain’t going to change.

“It’s how we play football. It might not please everyone. We’re not here to please everyone, but we believe in this way of football. It might be naive, I don’t know."
