John Brooks is set for another key role at the Amex.

The official who refereed the recent home defeat by Arsenal will be on VAR duty when Manchester City visit.

Brooks angered home fans with his penalty award as Tariq Lamptey challenged Gabriel Jesus.

But there were also observers, including Roberto De Zerbi, who felt the award was correct.

Jarred Gillett has been handed the middle for the game a week on Thursday.

He was last at the Amex when Albion beat Tottenham 4-2 and earned praise for his work, along with his VAR, on a penalty decision.

Gillett has refereed 25 games this season, the most recent of which was Chelsea’s dramatic 4-3 win at home to Manchester United.

He has shown 109 yellow cards and three reds, although there has not been a sending-off in his last 13 games.

City fans will recall him refereeing their recent game at Brentford, which was notable for a verbal spat between Neal Maupay and Kyle Walker.

Gillett, the referee who came over from Australia’s A-League, blew for just six fouls in that game at the Gtech.

The full officiating team for Albion’s game at home to Manchester City is as follows.

Referee: Jarred Gillett. Assistants: Darren Cann, Neil Davies. Fourth official: Graham Scott. VAR: John Brooks. Assistant VAR: Akil Howson.
