Albion are keeping a close eye on Maisie Symonds as they go into the final weeks of the WSL season.

The England under-23 midfielder played the first 65 minutes of the 2-1 home defeat by Everton at the Amex.

She was taken off shortly after her free-kick against the crossbar had led to the hosts drawing level.

It was her longest participation in a game since she played three-quarters of the 3-2 home win over Bristol City three months previously.

Symonds adds direction to Albion’s attacking game with her vision and passing.

But she has suffered illness and injury setbacks.

Albion boss Mikey Harris said: “Maisie has been out for a long time.

“It’s great to have her back in the squad.

“She was limited to 60 minutes so it was a physical reason why we took her off.

“What we can’t do after her being out for so long is risk her reinjuring and then being out for the rest of the season.

“Sixty was probably a push, really.

“We pushed her to the limit and I thought she was excellent, given the fact she has been out for such a long period of time.

“To come in and put in a performance like that, full credit to her and the medical team who have been working with her over the past few months.”

Albion go to Tottenham on Sunday before facing Aston Villa at Crawley and Arsenal at Meadow Park.
