THREE Bridges scored twice in the last 15 minutes to beat Chichester and take over at the top of division one.

Trailing to Russ Hardwell’s second-half goal, Bridges levelled when Carl Dunk converted a penalty after a foul on Dean Wright before Nathan Davis grabbed the winner.

Bridges are two points clear of Ringmer, whose top-of-the-table clash with Arundel was called off, while Redhill are up to third after scoring all their goals in the first half in a 6-0 demolition of struggling Worthing United.

Wayne Robinson, Marcel Dennis and new signing Eddie Keboah all scored twice.

Lobsters boss John Crumplin admitted: “John Suter has a tough job on his hands there. A few years ago the side he has got together would have wiped the floor with many County League sides but it is an ageing team.

“It was 6-0 at half-time and although you try to lift your players to do it again in the second half, it never happens.

“It’s going to be an interesting league this season as it is very tight at the top.”

Horsham YMCA are up to fifth, just two points behind the leaders, after an excellent 2-0 win at Hassocks.

Scott Marshall’s classy finish gave them a half-time lead and Tom Manton pounced from close range after Matt Geard’s shot had been fumbled after the break.

YM boss Chris White said: “It was a tough game. Dave John has got Hassocks organised and we didn’t play well in the first half but we improved after that.

“We have won our last two away games at difficult places and it’s another victory which keeps us up there challenging.”

Shoreham stunned high-flying Pagham with a 3-0 win at Nyetimber Lane thanks to two goals from Neil Kane in the first eight minutes and Rob Boddy’s second-half effort.

Oakwood’s match against Hailsham was postponed.

In the cups, Eastbourne United showed their prowess from dead ball situations as they swamped Littlehampton 6-1 to secure a home tie against Redhill in the quarter-finals of the RUR Cup.

Carl Harris and Steve Morris both scored from free-kicks after Joe Haffenden had struck for United inside 30 seconds. Nathan Milroy (2) and Mark Warren were also on target.

Boss Brian Dennis said: “We have some players who can strike a dead ball and I encourage them to have a go – although it annoys me when they end up going over the bar! Getting a goal so early settled us down and we could have had a few more.

Redhill will be a tough one in the next round but we’re looking forward to it.”

Lingfield secured a third round meeting with Three Bridges after beating Westfield 3-0 while in the League Cup Tom Ridley returned after six weeks out to score his 11th goal of the season as Selsey edged out ten-man East Grinstead 1-0.

The Wasps had defender Marc Pelling sent off for a professional foul on Rob Brown in the first half before Ridley got the only goal on 53 minutes.

Selsey boss Danny Hinshelwood said: “The boys were a bit flat afterwards so I reminded them that we’ve only lost three games out of 23 this season which is a good record.

“Tom is so good for us because he can get a goal out of nothing. Even when they went down to ten men East Grinstead made it hard because they kept going.”

Selsey now entertain Whitehawk in the quarter-finals.

Hinshelwood added: “We’ve got them this Saturday in the FA Vase as well so that is two tough games but being at home will help.”
