John Suter failed to get one over on his old club as basement side Worthing United went down 3-0 at Hassocks in County League division one.

Suter was axed by the Robins last month and goals by James Laing and Lawrence Robinson (two) made sure it was no happy return.

Robins boss Dave John said: “We needed the points and didn’t want to lose to them as they have players who were with us.”

Ringmer returned to the top of the table after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Oakwood.

Jo Tubon scored twice to wipe out Rob Gardner’s second-minute opener for the hosts.

Joint boss Bob Munnery said: “They caught us asleep early on but after that we controlled the game.”

Third-placed Pagham won 3-2 at Horsham YMCA in a game which saw four players sent off and nine booked.

Pagham’s Lee Bradshaw and YM’s Scott Marshall were dismissed for second bookable offences while the home side’s Neil Watts and Shaheen Sadough were sent off after the final whistle.

Goals from Jamie Angel, Bradshaw and Michael Frangou gave Pagham victory. Marshall and Ryan Bradley replied.

Hailsham picked up an important win as they beat East Preston 2-1 with a brace from Scott McDonald.

McDonald struck after only three minutes but Jay Huet levelled and the Stringers’ striker was left to grab all three points in the dying minutes.

Eastbourne United drew 0-0 at Lingfield. Boss Brian Dennis said: “They are one of the best sides we have played this year but we didn’t play to our full potential.”

In the John O’Hara League Cup, Wayne Robinson scored a hat-trick as Redhill won 3-1 at home to ten-man Wick.
