Micky Adams has saluted the spirit of his Albion side after they caused an upset to table-topping Leicester for the second time this season.

The Seagulls followed up their 3-2 victory against the Foxes at Withdean in October with a 0-0 draw at the Walkers Stadium last night.

Adams, celebrating a defiant return to his former club, said: “There is nothing wrong with the spirit in the camp and that has beenquestioned at times. The second half at Cheltenham on Saturday and the full 90 minutes here was everything we want. We want the players to show a bit of pride in the jersey and they did that.”

Captain Nicky Forster played alone up front after Adam Virgo failed a late fitness test on a calf injury.

“The game plan was forced on us in many respects,” said Adams. “We lost Adam and, looking at the personnel we had, we felt that was the way we could frustrate Leicester and get a foothold in the game. Everybody did their jobs. Occasionally we showed a bit of naivety in certain areas but they executed the game plan magnificently.

“I cannot speak too highly of Nicky Forster, ploughing the lone furrow up front. He took the pressure off with his work rate and getting hold of the ball.

“John Sullivan made a couple of saves but it would be wrong to say he was under a massive amount of pressure. In front of him we had a rock solid wall and they found it difficult to break us down. All in all it has to rank as one of our best performances of the season.”

Meanwhile, fringe striker Jake Robinson is on his way out, with Aldershot one of several clubs chasing his signature. Adams revealed: “Aldershot have made an enquiry, as have a couple of other clubs. We would expect developments this week and I would think the possibility is that Jake will leave.”
