Adam Hinshelwood is back in England looking for a club after putting on hold the possibility of rebuilding his career in America.

The former Albion defender has returned from a week-long trial with FC Dallas.

They wanted to extend the arrangement but, although he enjoyed the experience, Hinshelwood is not ready to uproot his family and follow the example of fellow former Seagull Chris Birchall, who is now a team-mate of David Beckham at LA Galaxy.

Hinshelwood said: “It was a bit weird because they are already halfway through their season.

“It was 100 degrees as well, so I felt a bit off the pace at first but after the first couple of sessions I settled in.

“They wanted me to stay and play in a game this week but I’ve got a young family now so I wanted to come home.

“The set-up was spot on, Premier League standard really, so to have a taste of that for a week was a great experience.

“I am not ruling out playing in America some time in the future but I want to stay here first and get a couple of seasons under my belt.”

Hinshelwood, 25, has fully recovered from the right knee problems which plagued him at Albion and limited him to 37 League games in the last four years.

“I was in full training out in America and the knee felt good,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to find something over here.

“It’s a bit worrying but I’m making a few phone calls and trying to get something sorted out.”

Meanwhile Jonny Dixon has missed out on a reunion with ex-boss Terry Brown and a swift chance to avenge his 18-month nightmare with Albion.

Brown, Dixon’s manager at Aldershot, is now in charge of AFC Wimbledon where the Seagulls play a pre-season friendly later this month.

He has held talks with his former striker but has ruled out re-signing him, because he already has similar-type players.

Dixon parted company with Albion last week, agreeing a financial settlement on the year left on his contract after making only two starts since a £55,000 move from Aldershot in the January 2008 transfer window.
