Albion boss Russell Slade believes two days of graft can help his side bounce back from the misery of Huddersfield.

Slade was highly critical of his team’s display in Tuesday’s 7-1 surrender at the Galpharm Stadium.

The winless Seagulls have just Southampton, with their ten-point penalty, below them in the League One table as they prepare to host Stockport on Saturday.

Slade said: “We can’t do anything about what has gone on Tuesday. It’s a huge game on Saturday and actions speak louder than words. You can rest assured we will be working very hard today and tomorrow to put things right.”

Albion will check on injuries sustained by Liam Dickinson and Andrew Crofts at Huddersfield and continue to assess options in the troublesome left back berth.

Slade added: “Crofty has a lot of bruising and hopefully he can train today. The same with Dicko. We iced him straight away.”

Stockport are desperately trying to get players on board in time for the trip to Withdean, despite a block on them making signings.

Boss Gary Ablett has lost midfielder Matt Mainwaring with a broken leg and wants to sign Chelsea youngster Liam Bridcutt on loan.

Ablett has funds for two further players but could come to Sussex with a threadbare squad including four youth teamers.

Slade said: “They’ve not hit the ground running. It’s going to be an interesting game.”
