Gary Dicker has predicted a repeat of Albion’s counter-attacking feats at Southampton against table-topping Leeds at Withdean today.

The Irish midfielder believes Leeds’ style will suit the Seagulls after they were forced to grind out victory against Wycombe Wanderers in Wednesday’s FA Cup replay.

Dicker said: “I think it will be a lot different to Wednesday’s game. I don’t think they (Wycombe) were too fussed about winning, even though it was the cup. They came to just sit in and bore the game out.

“Leeds will be coming to win and that will suit us. We showed at Southampton on Sunday (3-1) that we can let teams come at us but break quickly.

“I think it will suit the game we are trying to play and hopefully we can catch them out.

“They have done well but they have picked up a lot of scrappy wins as well and we did that on Wednesday.

“It was the sort of game we would have lost a month ago but we won 2-0 without even playing well and I think that is a good sign.”

Dicker is aiming to continue his flourishing midfield partnership with Andrew Crofts, who has scored twice in two matches as Gus Poyet’s captain.

“I am getting used to playing with Crofty,” Dicker said. “We’ve had 11 or 12 games straight together now.

“At the start of the season we were chopping and changing but it is always good to get to know someone and play with someone regularly. We understand each other a lot more.”
