It is not part of the game plan but Mauricio Taricco will be keeping a close eye on Albion, and the defence in particular, if they go 1-0 down at Norwich tonight.

They have found themselves in that situation 11 times this season and have gone on to lose nine of them, the exceptions being draws at Millwall and at home to Hartlepool.

The Seagulls, as the statistics emphasise, do not deal well with adversity, a shortcoming which Gus Poyet's Argentinian No. 2 is determined to address.

What bothered Poyet and Taricco most about Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Leeds was the goal which doubled Albion's deficit, scored by Jermaine Beckford from Neil Kilkenny's long range pass.

Taricco said: "That is something we have been working on lately with the defence, so that disappointed us more than the result really.

"It wasn't the fact that we conceded three but the fact that we conceded that second one. That annoyed us a lot.

"The first one was a good strike and the third one came when we were going for it. Those things happen.

"In the future we will react better. It happens in football that you are going to go 1-0 down. You are not always going to be 1-0 up and it is all rosy.

"It's about the way you respond, keeping the same shape and not getting distracted. We need to be mentally strong.

"We'll keep working and get better to make sure those kind of goals like the second one don't happen again."
