Unlucky Elliott Bennett has revealed how an old team mate denied him another free-kick goal.
The Albion deadball specialist was thwarted by two saves, one brilliant and one very good, from keeper Ben Williams as Colchester plundered the points.
Bennett revealed: “I’ve known him since I was on loan at Crewe and he was there as No. 1 keeper before he moved on. He’s a top lad, a good keeper.
“With the first one, I thought I’d scored. I don’t know how he saved it because it went through the bodies. It looked like it was in.
“When he saved it I was gutted. I said to him after the game ‘how did you save it?’ and he just said ‘God knows’.
“The second was another good save but I think if I’d put a bit more on it he might not have got there so easily.”
Bennett was convinced Albion deserved at least a point.
He said: “I think we played brilliantly, other than the first 15 minutes. Everybody is disappointed we lost the game but the gaffer said ‘well done, that’s how I want you to play the game’.”
