Gus Poyet lamented 15 bad minutes and some missed chances after his side went down 2-1 at home to Colchester.

The dejected Albion boss saw his side create several good openings but still lose a match from which victory would have taken them temporarily into 15th spot in League One.

He said: "It's about 90 minutes. We had maybe 15 when we were not the best team on the pitch.

"Colchester scored the goals at the right times and that was the beginning.

"I think for the rest of the game we were the better team.

"In terms of time, 15 minutes against 75 is a big difference but we couldn't score today.

"It was that sort of game. No matter what you do, even if you are in the six-yard box in front of the goalkeeper, it wasn't to be."

Victory would have guaranteed the Seagulls a place outside the drop zone at the end of the weekend.

Poyet said: "I was looking forward to watching the table all night!"
