Holroyd deal back on

Albion's bid to sign Cambridge United striker Chris Holroyd is back on.

The Argus understands Holroyd has now agreed the personal terms offered to him by the Seagulls last weekend.

The deal will be completed later today, subject to a medical, and Holroyd will be available for tomorrow's home game against Millwall.

Come on Arvening Egus, these conflicting headlines are akin to reading Glenda Slag in Private Eye, but that aside this is good news.

'Mark the cab' must either be telepathic, an insider at Cambridge United, or he has given Chris Holroyd a cab ride to Withdean .... he was correct with his previous news, despite the Cambridge website indicating nothing at all ....
This will make the weekend rather interesting now ....
Funny old game this football ....

Do we want a player who obviously didn't want to come here as his first choice - this smacks of waiting on other potential deals first....
Hope he can prove me wrong and can play a bit!
Still the way the story has gone so far I expect a 'Deal Off' headline soon.......

MK Wirral thats because for a short time there was an article on the CUFC site claiming the deal had gone through, but within minutes it was taken down, not sure why?

I suspect CH has been badly advised by his agent. It would appear he was told to hang out until the end of the window in the hope other clubs would come in and he could have bid up his worth. If he stayed at Cambridge he probably would have lost form and his worth diminshed considerably by the end of the season. Now he has the challenge of winnning over Brighton fans after giving the impression that his principle motive was the financial reward rather than the opportunity to establish a career in the Football League. Le's hope he establishes himself and become the successor to Nicky Forster.

I don't think GP will be (how should I say) mucked around, he does not strike me as a person who has time for wasters. If he thought the deal was worth chaseing then he must no something or really see something in this and other players he will bring in.
Must agree though the Argus needs to wait and get it correct first time instead of jumping in for that MUST HAVE HEADLINE.

Thanks for that Andy ....
The whole episode has been shrouded in strange happenings all the way through ....
But, at the end of the day, GP got his man, so let's hope that the saga is soon forgotten and that the player is a success with us.

Very pleased about this. Can't blame the lad for taking a few days to consider what is a big move for him. I'm sure there was other interest. Welcome Chris and his beautiful eyes!

You'll find that it was his agent that was the trouble, hanging on for a better deal to increase his overall percentage. So, don't be too hard on Holroyd. He was genuinely excited at coming here. Football Agents are low-life, unnecessary and do not always have the player's best interests at heart. I know, I've dealt with quite a few. Obviously, there are good and bad but generally they are parasites.

Just been listening to a similar account regarding Holroyd's agent Claude ....
I agree with your sentiments ....

Albion website now confirms the deal ....
There is also mention of Adam El-Abd signing a new contract until June 2011 ....
This was inevitable after his displays under GP, and I am very pleased for him.
