Gus Poyet reckons League One will be as tough as ever next season, despite Leeds at last winning promotion.

The Elland Road outfit scrambled back into the Championship at the third attempt, taking a sizeable playing budget with them.

However Poyet can see the sides coming down making life just as tough for the Seagulls who are ambitious for at least a play-off berth.

The Albion boss said: “It will still be a very strong division. Sheffield Wednesday look like they will be very competitive and Peterborough will not lose as many players as people seem to think they will. Southampton will be there again and so will all the teams who did well this season.”

Notts County are also widely expected to pose a threat after coming up from League Two.

Poyet said: “We need to wait and see what happens with them in the summer. If they keep spending they will be a difficult team to beat.”

Charlton will be plotting another promotion push next season after tumbling out of the play-offs at the semi-final stage last night. Swindon won 5-4 on penalties after a 2-1 defeat at The Valley left the aggregate scores level at 3-3 after extra-time.

Millwall and Huddersfield meet at The Den tomorrow after their 0-0 first-leg draw at the Galpharm.
