Albion have made an audacious swoop for Swindon skipper and centre-half Gordon Greer.
The Argus understands the Seagulls have tabled a bid to their League One rivals for the 29-year-old Scot.
Greer would serve a dual purpose for manager Gus Poyet, as both an experienced organiser at the heart of the defence plus a potential captaincy replacement for Andrew Crofts following the midfielder’s move to Norwich.
Greer is halfway through a two-year contract. Swindon will be reluctant to relinquish the accomplished Glaswegian on the cheap, despite snapping him up initially on loan and then on a free transfer from Doncaster Rovers 11 months ago.
