Hailsham boss Ken McCreadie praised his side’s never-say-die attitude after they scored three times in the final 12 minutes to salvage a point at East Grinstead.

The Wasps looked to be cruising to their eighth win in 11 games thanks to a brace from Liam Baitup after Richard Sinden had given them an early lead.

Liam Bailey pulled one back in the 78th minute but it looked a mere consolation until two own goals in the final two minutes earned them an unlikely draw.

McCreadie said: “Forget the fact that their defence melted, you have got to give credit to my players because they never gave up.

“Their manager (Tony Beckingham) made three subs near the end and took off both their goalscorers and I think he underestimated us.

“We made them pay as we took the game to them and got our reward.”

Mark Whiteman scored five times as Ringmer recorded a superb 6-3 win at Selsey.

Whiteman had put Ringmer 2-0 ahead but Selsey hit back to lead 3-2 with 14 minutes to go with goals from Graham Bush (2) and Ollie Haggar. Whiteman completed his nap hand, though, while Adam Mitchell also got in on the act.

Pagham moved to within a point of leaders Crawley Down as they thumped Lingfield 5-2 at home. Goals from Paul Jones, James Temple, Dan Moseby, Joe Booker and George Gaskin secured the win.

Player-manager Dave Adams scored what turned out to be the winning goal as Crowborough secured a smash and grab win at Arundel.

Howard Neighbour gave Arundel the lead but Tom Noel, Mike Culverhouse and Adams all scored on the counter attack. Dave Walker pulled one back just before the break. Adams said: “It was an open game and we rode our luck a bit in the second half when they were pushing for an equaliser.

“We are in the middle of a run of very tough games so it was an important win to keep our momentum going.”

Hassocks withstood a first half battering at Redhill before going on to win 3-1 and maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Spencer Slaughter, Phil Gault and Dan Smith got the goals and Robins boss Micky Jewell said: “It’s a hard place to go but we stood up to it. Things are going okay but I’m not going to start shouting about it as we could do better.”
